Tim Martin <tmartin@andrew.cmu.edu> wrote, debugged, and tested pretty much all of the code.

Rob Earhart <earhart@cmu.edu> wrote the build/installation procedure, and provided general guidance and coding advice.

Lawrence Greenfield <leg+@andrew.cmu.edu> complained a lot :-).

Leif Johansson <leifj@matematik.su.se> wrote the GSSAPI plugin.

Rainer Schoepf <schoepf@uni-mainz.de> contributed the LOGIN plugin,
based on Tim Martin's PLAIN plugin.

Chris Newman <chris.newman@innosoft.com> wrote the SASL API documented in sasl.h, saslutil.h, and saslplug.h.

Alexey Melnikov <mel@messagingdirect.com> wrote DIGEST-MD5 plugin together with Tim Martin and Lawrence Greenfield.

The CRAM-MD5, SCRAM-MD5, and PLAIN mechanisms use a gdbm file on the
server side to check the passwords. The utility makedbm.c has been
included for creating a dbm file.
